Cantamath 2018

Cantamath is basically a design competition for static math models, photos etc. The year 8 students formed a group to make a model of a wave, covered in lots of plastic bags to raise awareness for pollution in our seas. Many students spent hours on their project, it looked easy but was really time-consuming. From what I saw, many students were interested in the very visual projects which demonstrated something, such as the "trauma arm". It is really strange without having Cantamath projects to work on now, because they were very important
What did you like and why?

Feast Day Mass 2018

Image result for mary pngHello everyone!Thursday was our feast day mass for Our Lady. It is actually Wednesday but teachers went on strike! We came to school in our uniforms but changed afterwards due to our last winter sport games. Many year 8's took part by reading prayers and the bible , although the year 7s a chance to talk infront of 400 people! The PTA donated some very, very yummy chocolate chip biscuits from couplands as a treat! We also do kind deeds on our feast day like
  • Visiting retirement homes for singing
  • Doing yard work
  • Baking biscuits for some parishioners
etc :) Special thanks to Mrs G, the school choir and mass readers for really bringing this year's feast day mass together!

Air Force Museum Trip 2018

Hello everyone,

On Monday Hillary hub traveled to the Christchurch air force museum to dive deeper into our current atomic bomb research and to visit the Anne Frank Exhibit. Many students didn't know Anne Frank or her story but were interested in her hiding, daily life, and her book... Which some students are interested in reading in the next few weeks. We had some students from Rangi Ruru to escort us around the Anne Frank exhibit after We read out some stories about being an immigrant as Ann was an immigrant herself. Afterward, we went into the classroom to watch a video and discuss our new learnings.
Thanks for reading, there's more history to come!
